The ICTentr Innovation Camp was held as the Entrepreneurship pilot course of the ICTentr project on September 14–15, 2017 at the HCM University of Technology and respectively, on September 18–19, 2017 at the University of Da Nang. The ICTentr Innovation Camps were run by Mr. Vesa Hautala and Mr. Mikko Grönlund from the University of Turku (Finland), together with the local Vietnamese teachers and supported by Mrs. Mai Renko from Asia Renko Consulting Oy.
The Innovation Camp was a 30-hour innovation journey where the students found new and creative solutions to real life challenges given by the industry representatives. The students worked in teams and had only 30 hours to solve the cases given by IT 247 Ltd. and English Hub Ltd. in HCMC and by Global Cybersoft Ltd. (A Hitachi Consulting Company) and Axon Active Ltd in Danang. At the end of the camp the students pitched their suggestions to resolve the case to the company representatives and received valuable feedback from both the businesses and teaching staff.
The objective of the Entrepreneurship pilot course is to support the universities’ shift towards entrepreneurial university. Emphasis was given to supporting entrepreneurialism among the students of the universities as well as to further developing cooperation with the surrounding business environment and society. The course provides the students with problem solving skills and creative thinking. The students learned to use their competences and knowledge to recognize the existing business problem and to find a creative and feasible solution to solve it at hand. The pitching to the industry representatives exercised the students to communicate their ideas in a commercial manner in order to convince business professionals. The ICTentr Innovation Camp is a concept which is to be utilized by the Vietnamese universities in the future.
